"Elephants Are Not Just Big Cows"

First Things First

I'm zinging with excitement!
An elephant ranch is coming to Fellsmere, Florida.
For those of you who don't know where Fellsmere is,
It is located directly west of the
City of Sebastian
on the edge of the Indian River Lagoon on the
central east coast.

Second

I have researched and read everything I could find out about this ranch,
Called
 The National Elephant Center

Boy!  That sounds so elephant prestigious.  Wow!
Right here, almost in my own back yard.
Very intriguing.  Similar to how I was feeling back in the year 2000
when I just had to buy a computer and learn everything
I possibly could about it and the internet.
I only hope that Fellsmere doesn't become as big as the internet.
Nah, that won't happen.  But it's that very thought
that has inspired this blog post.

It is my larger then elephant size imagination that has lead me
to the the facts that I am about to display in
this blog.

 Third

Diseases of Elephants

Encephalomyocarditis -
inflammation of skeletal and cardiac muscle and lesions of the central nervous system

Herpes Virus    -    No explanation required

Rabies    -    No explanation required

Salmonellosis    -   infection with or disease caused by samenellae

Tuberculosis    -    chronic, progressive, debilitating disease known frequently to occur with elephants in captivity

For just one brief moment, go where my imagination takes me . . .

Elevation in Fellsmere is approximately 24' above sea level.
Elevation at shore level is 0' above sea level.
All of Fellsmere and Sebastian's canals and rivers
flow to or toward 0 level.

Picture any one or all of the listed diseases flowing in and thru our storm run off drains.

Oh my gosh!    -    Just thinking.

Fourth

Some of our animal-rights position takers are very concerned about
the treatment and boarding facilities of these elephants.

According to informational shows I've seen on TV

Elephants hold an amazing family bond which allows them to
actually carry their family instincts from one generation to another thru,
not only nurturing knowledge from their families but thru their genes at birth.

I find that amazingly awesome

My point    -    without elephants having their very own natural habitat
to carry on generations of gentle docile giant descendants then what you have
left is nothing but mindless, memory less, orphans much much
larger then "just a big cow"

That being said

I may not be able to put my words in perfect order to convey these thought,
But
It seems to me that even though there are definitely some kinks in this
plan it's still probably the best and most important thing that could
be happening for our elephants in a very very long time.
   So
kudos to Fellsmere, Florida
  And
I am so very excited about this hopefully
 wonderful project.

Thank you.

If you can't laugh at your self then who can you laugh at? Part ll

Nurture it, feed it, water it, and stay on the job.
As some of you may remember, a friend gave me this plant.

These photo's were taken shortly after I received it and several months after I began taking care of it.
It wouldn't take me very long to figure out who I wanted to be with.  How about you?

Enjoy!

No Fault Divorce Laws in the 1970's

The adoption of no-fault divorce laws by the other states

By 1977 nine states had adopted no-fault divorce laws and by late 1983, every state but South Dakota and New York had adopted some form of no-fault divorce (although some forms were not as easy to obtain as that in California). South Dakota was previously the last state to adopt no-fault divorce in 1985.[16] Until August 2010, New York still lacked a unilateral "no-fault" divorce statute; under New York divorce law only if both parties notarize a separation agreement and live separately for one year, could a judge convert it into a divorce.

In August 2000, Attorney Ed Truncellito filed suit against the State Bar of Texas, alleging the no-fault law in Texas was misapplied because he asserts that the legislative history of no-fault divorce law in Texas makes it clear that the law was meant for uncontested cases only.
As of October 2010, all states and the District of Columbia allow no-fault divorce. No-fault divorce is available in New York as of October 15th, 2010.

What I've found to be true is that the children suffer seperation
anxiety, a loss so severe that they never recooperate from.  And
have difficulty being able to have there own fulfilled loving family
unit.  It happened to me twice.    Take it from me -
Everybody looses!!!

"Rain Lillies"

Just a little tid bit.
Rain lillies only bloom when it rains. That's due to the changing
of the barimetric pressure.
Surprise! Surprise!
It took me forever to figure that one out.

Enjoy!

"Serenity"

God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things
I can not change.
The Courage to change the things I can
and
The wisdom to know the difference.

"Elephants - To Kill or not to Kill"

After quite a bit of wishy-washy research. I'll get right down to the real nitty gritty of what I was able to find.
Of course it's against the law to kill an elephant!!!
As a matter of fact, Elephants are on the "Red List" of endangered species.
However, if you really want to kill an elephant, I'm sure that if your name is Bob Parson or some other big wig like that, you could get a permit to do so.
That's my answer. It's against the law to kill an elephant!
